Darlene Shade GREENVILLE -- Darlene Shade age 95, of Greenville passed away at 11:45 pm Tuesday, May 13, 2025, at the Brethren Retirement Community in Greenville. Darlene was born on January 17, 1930, in Laura, Ohio, to the late Roy B. & Dorothy (Applegate) Darst. Darlene was also preceded in death by her husband of 60 years, Joseph Darrell Shade; son, Kevin Lee Shade; brother, Tom Darst; and her twin sister, Arlene Randall. Darlene is survived by her sons & daughters-in-law, Steven D. & Connie Shade of Wolcottville, Indiana, and Larry A. & Alice Shade of Greenville; grandchildren, Jon (Vicki) Shade, Nate (Sherrie) Shade, Jennifer Royer, Justin (Alison) Shade, Samantha (Tyler) Shade, and Aaron (Emily) Shade; and 8 great grandchildren and 1 expected. Darlene was a hospital aide and ward clerk at Dettmer Hospital & Piqua Hospital for 23 years. Darlene was a member of Oakland Church of the Brethren, Bradford. Darlene played the keyboard, accordion, and harmonica. She enjoyed crocheting, camping, fishing, and playing cards with family and friends. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 am Wednesday, May 21, 2025, at Oakland Church of the Brethren 8058 Horatio Harris Creek Rd. Bradford with Pastor Bob Bitner officiating. A 1:30 pm graveside service will follow in Miami Memorial Park in Covington. The family will receive friends from 9:00 to 11:00 am on Wednesday morning at the church. In lieu of flowers, the family request memorial contributions be made to EverHeart Hospice or the Brethren Retirement Community Resident Aid Fund.
